Perhaps the most photographed lighthouse in the Chesapeake Bay, the Thomas Point Shoal Lighthouse (TPSL) is the last screwpile lighthouse remaining on its original site in the Bay.It was first illuminated November 27, 1875.

TPSL became a National Historic Landmark in 1999. Most rooms look as they did in the early 1900s, and the Coast Guard room appears as it did in 1986 when last manned. A dedicated team of volunteers maintains the lighthouse and conducts docent-led public tours.

Tour tickets are available from the United States Lighthouse Society www.uslhs.org. Tour proceeds contribute to ongoing maintenance of the lighthouse.
